From Ciutadella city take the road to "Punta Nati
or el Faro Nati". Few minutes before arriving to this lighthouse, on your right you
will find a wild road, the last turning you will find, to the Ses Truqueries farm.
After visiting Sa Sínia from this farm, you could take advantage and visit the cliffs and the bare landscape from Punta Nati, above all at dusk, from where you will get some excellent views of the Sun when it disappears into the sea.

"Sa Sínia", how it´s known by people from
Menorca, it was left by Moorish people when they were in Menorca and it was used to water
vegetable gardens.
In Menorca history there have been
two kinds of sinia: a primitive one, wooden one, and the modern one, make of iron. Around
wells they built a paved area that was used to have a mule walk around in circles and help
to operate the machinery. One can usually find an "higuera" tree close to the
well. It was used by peasants to rest under shadow. The animal had its eyes semi covered
to not be diverted in its work.
The wheel from Sinia is composed by small cups. These cups, with the help of the animals, were filled up of water.
After the Civil Spanish war, about 1940, Sínies were replaced by pumps to draw water from underground.
Nowadays, Sínies are not used anymore to extract water. However, peasants from Ses Truqueries use the Sínia to remember old times, and to show to schools how it worked or to conserve the tradition that, slowly, being lost by the peasants.
