From Es Migjorn Gran, follow the road to San Adeodato
beach. When the road comes to an end, (on the left you can find "Es Pou d´es
Captiu", a well), you have to reach the beach and take a path, on the right, which
goes round the beach in a western direction.
After, following this path you have to arrive to a mouth of a gully called "Barranc de Bini Gaus Vell". Go through the gully and after a well, the valley becomes bigger and bigger slowly in front of you. Always on the left, the path goes up. At the top you can see the white shape of houses from Binigaus. You will know you are in "Sa Cova d´es Coloms" when you will come to the dark entrance to a cavern.

"Sa Cova d´es Coloms" is a enormous natural cavern at the eastern cliff of
"Es Barranc de Binigaus". The Cavern is 24 metres in height, 110 metres in
length and 15 metres in width, like an enormous natural Cathedral. A person becomes an
insignificant element inside it.
The name of this cavern is due to a
special kind of pigeons inside it, called "palomas torcaces". Nowadays they are
being killed by hunters. In the past, people from Menorca came here to capture these
birds. There is an important number of bats and with moss and lichen which is covering the
cavern, makes a mysterious screen.
In this place a Prehistorical objec was found, it looked like a bull horn. It was used to worship the fertility. The bull is still viewed as the animal which accompany the souls to the world of the dead. It isn´t strange that the first people in Menorca used this place like a sacred place. The prehistoric people worshiped a lot of things related to the underground world. The cavern had a double mean, the fecundity of the motherly uterus and the cavern like a metaphor of the trip to the death world. In this culture they couldn´t think of life without death and death without life.
It´s told by the tradition that your destiny is tied or untied when you go inside "Sa Cova d´es Coloms". If a couple goes together inside this cavern, soon they are going to be separated, but if two unknown people go inside this cavern, they won´t be separed anymore. You can believe most part of this history of "Sa Cova d´es Coloms": at spring solstice the light of the sun shines on the deepest part of the cavern; that has been the Calipso´s mythical cavern, from which Ulises sighed for his dear Itaca; that was house of giants
The imagination and the spectacular view of this place accepts any hypothesis.
