From Ferreries town to Ciutadella city, after the turn off of Cala Galdana, on your left,
you can find "Biniatram" farm. The turn off is about 1 kilometre from Ferreries.
When you arrive to the gully you have to leave the car and go walking along the gully. This walk is very nice and you can walk what you want while you observe the impressive landscape.
"Es Pas de'n Revull" is signed by a poster made on wood on the left of the path.. This sign is about 1 kilometre from where you leave the car. Itīs recommended not to make a lot of noise and you will, probably, see a lot of animals..
The most beautiful gully you can find in Menorca is Algendar. It begins at Santa Agueda
and sīEnclusa course of a torrents. While it is going on to the south some little gullies
and canals are joining it making a complete journey of about 10 kilometres to Cala
Galdana. Itīs a fertile place because of Itīs rocky walls of about 80 metres in height,
the caverns and some fonts. About 20 families were living in it and, probably, was located
a Muslim Almudaina.
At the middle of the gully there are some houses called "Les Cases del Bisbe"
that are full of stories and legends. Itīs a strange place, dangerous, full of unknown
things; like the secret from "Es pas dīen Revull. Itīs talked by the locals, that
Revull was a Moorish bandit with long and beautiful hair. After stealing some fruits and
chickens to peasants went into the gully.
People tried follow him but it was not an easy job. His hiding place was so good that they never caught him.
One of the most magic places in this gully is a cavern called "La Cova Murada". This cavern was close for a long time by a big wall made of rocks. Inside it some people found several objects from the prehistoric period. But the most known thing about this cavern is the legend of "The Lady".
Itīs known by the tradition that who was carrying a gold comb. Itīs known by the tradition that a goatherd used to sit on a rock further off the cavern.
One day he saw a princess who was carrying a gold comb. The lady didnīt pay attention to the goatherd and he ignored her. The next day he saw the princess again. She went until the goatherd waiting for some communication from him, but he didn’t say anything. Finally, the third day, the mysterious lady went until the goatherd and asked him: "what do you prefer, the gold comb or me?" the goatherd answered: "the gold brush". She got furious and she thrown the brush to the goatherd. "You will be poor all your life," she shouted.
All these legends and the
magic of the place finished when you got the end of the gully: a beach called "Cala
Galdana". A lot of pirates landed in Cala Galdana. But now is ocuppied by the most
cruel and horrible pirate ever: a hotel…
Before the Islamic domain, all this area belonged to Santa Ana. When Moorish people arrived they leave Santa out and they called the river from Legendary as Guad-al Ana (Ana’s river).
This place confirms the bewichtment of the gullies with its stories about caverns and giants with its hidden nature and this landscape that has corners that the time hasnīt discovered yet.
